Senators Demuzio and Durbin hold roundtable in Taylorville
Illinois State Senator Deanna Demuzio invited U.S. Senator Dick Durbin to Taylorville to discuss the Taylorville Energy Center and local job creation. Senator Durbin received a briefing on the TEC project and the group divulged into conversation about the plant's future.

Efforts to tap Illinois' vast reserve of coal using clean technology will come at a cost to consumers, an Illinois Commerce Commission report released yesterday to the Illinois General Assembly confirmed regarding Tenaska's proposed Taylorville Energy Center.

The Illinois Commerce Commission convened yesterday morning in Chicago to discuss five agenda items, the second of which was the proposed Taylorville Energy Center, and later that afternoon several supporters of the project met at the Taylorville City Hall.

Special meeting attendees agree: Lakeshore is vital
Retaining Lakeshore Golf Course was the general consensus at the outcome of last night's special meeting at City Hall. The City, The Park Board Members, and the private sector were presented with viable options to keep the golf course open. All parties were receptive.

Don Readhead honored by IDNR as an Outstanding Volunteer of the Year
Don Readhead of Taylorville was one of eight individuals and three groups honored by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources as Outstanding Volunteers of the Year during a ceremony in Conservation World at the Illinois State Fair. The volunteer recognition awards ceremony took place Saturday, August 21st at the Illinois Green Industry Association Outdoor Amphitheater, on the Illinois State Fairgrounds.

LLCC Board of Trustees hears plans for expanded workforce programs
SPRINGFIELD - Lincoln Land Community College's workforce division is growing, with preparations underway for new programming, equipment and teaching spaces. Dr. Judy Jozaitis, Vice President for Workforce Development and Community Education at LLCC, reported to the Board of Trustees last evening that $2 million in grant funding will be used to expand opportunities for students in the green industry, alternative energies, construction and other trades.

Project 29 Group comes to the table
EDINBURG - Project 29 Group orders Uncle John's famous Stimulus Menu.

This week the Project 29 Group met for a dinner meeting at Uncle John's Family Restaurant in Edinburg.

The group decided to place an entry in the annual Labor Day Parade. A generous donation was made by Ealey and Page for parade candy.

TAYLORVILLE - As City Engineer, it is Joe Greene's responsibility to protect the interest of the City of Taylorville. His expertise located a potential drainage problem with the Wilson Street project. The matter was discussed for hours at last night's Street and Sewer committee meeting.
