First Mid-Illinois Bancshares, Inc., the parent company of First Mid-Illinois Bank & Trust, NA, was recently included in the Forbes magazine list of Most Trustworthy Companies in the United States. Fewer than five percent of U.S. public companies are included on the list and only thirty-three banking companies were mentioned.

Local church donates school supplies
It was "Back to School Sunday" at Faith Community Worship Center on August 28, 2010, when the service was geared to students returning to school. Attendees brought school supplies to donate to a Taylorville school as a service project for August.

Local bowler brings home metals and trophies
Chuck Hendricks took home two gold metals and two 1st place trophies on Saturday, August 21st, from Sparetime Lanes in Decatur. Chuck and over 20 other Kids R Kids' bowlers traveled to Decatur for the annual bowling tournment. They joined other bowlers from the central Illinois area.

Senators Demuzio and Durbin hold roundtable in Taylorville
Illinois State Senator Deanna Demuzio invited U.S. Senator Dick Durbin to Taylorville to discuss the Taylorville Energy Center and local job creation. Senator Durbin received a briefing on the TEC project and the group divulged into conversation about the plant's future.

Efforts to tap Illinois' vast reserve of coal using clean technology will come at a cost to consumers, an Illinois Commerce Commission report released yesterday to the Illinois General Assembly confirmed regarding Tenaska's proposed Taylorville Energy Center.
